These public sessions provide an opportunity for the residents of Sept-Îles to help validate and enhance the findings of the report so that it accurately reflects local realities. This initiative aims to better understand the host community ahead of the potential implementation of the Torngat Metals plant project.
During recent public meetings, several residents expressed concerns regarding the environmental and social issues surrounding our rare earth separation plant project. Torngat Metals takes these concerns very seriously. Environmental considerations are at the core of our priorities, and an environmental impact assessment is currently underway. This study, conducted independently by AtkinsRéalis, will be presented to the public later this year and submitted to the Government of Quebec. It is being carried out in full compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
At the same time, we are beginning work on the social component. This validation process for the socio-community needs assessment represents a first concrete step toward open, transparent, and constructive dialogue with the people of Sept-Îles regarding the project’s potential social integration.
