Torngat Metals Opens Its Sept-Îles Office

Sept-Îles, October 19, 2026 – Torngat Metals is pleased to announce the opening of its Sept-Îles office, located at 406 Brochu Street. The office will open to the public on October 20 and welcome residents Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The opening of the Sept-Îles office reflects Torngat Metals’ commitment to being more accessible and present in the community. The company intends for the office to serve as a space for dialogue where residents can learn about the project and follow its progress, ask questions, and share their comments and feedback.

Donald Pilot will serve as Office and Community Engagement Manager. In this role, he will help coordinate relationships with the communities of Sept-Îles and Uashat mak Mani-Utenam. “I was born and raised in Sept-Îles, my heritage is Innu, and I know the people here well. People have questions and concerns about the Strange Lake Project. My role is to be available to listen, regardless of their point of view, provide them with the most up-to-date information, and ensure that their comments and concerns are considered as the project continues to move forward,” said Donald Pilot.

The office opening is part of a broader engagement effort undertaken over the past year, including the establishment of a liaison committee that will begin its work this fall. Torngat Metals is extending the application period for the three community seats on the Liaison Committee until Friday, October 23, allowing more community members to express their interest.

Torngat Metals is also continuing the development of the environmental impact assessment for its proposed separation plant, led by the independent firm AtkinsRéalis. The assessment will evaluate the project’s potential effects on the physical, biological, human, and socio-economic environments, identify mitigation measures, and establish an environmental monitoring program. Once completed, the study will be made public and presented to community members as part of a consultation process. It will also be submitted to the government in accordance with the regulatory process.
