Sept-Îles, September 29, 2026 – Torngat Metals is inviting residents to apply for three positions on its new liaison committee, established as part of the development of its rare earth separation plant project in Sept-Îles.
As a consultative forum, the liaison committee will serve as a dedicated and structured platform for dialogue between Torngat Metals and local communities. It will give members the opportunity to follow the project’s progress, share their concerns and suggestions, and contribute to the project’s ongoing development through their knowledge, expertise and perspectives.
In addition to the three community members, the committee will bring together representatives from various sectors of the community, including the municipal, Indigenous, environmental, community, economic development, and education sectors. The sectors represented and the individuals invited were identified through discussions with local groups to ensure the committee’s composition reflects the local context.
Residents of Sept-Îles or Uashat mak Mani-Utenam interested in serving on the committee as citizen members are invited to submit an application by October 15, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.
The recruitment and selection process will be coordinated by the independent firm Mallette. Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee made up of representatives from Mallette and two liaison committee members representing local organizations. Torngat Metals representatives will not participate in the selection process.
