Community Partners
Our success depends on our local and Indigenous partners to co-create a world-class, ethical and responsible mining project, one that delivers enduring value to the people in their communities.
Led by Éric Luneau, Vice-Président Community Engagement and Partnerships, and supported by Marilyn Butland, our Newfoundland and Labrador Stakeholder Relations leader, as well as anthropologist Martin Côté and his team at AECOM, our team has engaged with and will continue to consult all communities involved in the Strange Lake Project, so that we can incorporate their collective visions into the project plan.
In Québec, we are consulting:
- The Inuit of Nunavik, including the Makivik Corporation, the Kativik Regional Government, as well as the northern communities and land corporations of Kangiqsualujjuaq and Kuujjuaq
- The Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach
- The Innu community of Matimekush-Lac John (Schefferville)
- The Innu community of Uashat mak Mani-utenam (Sept-Îles)
In Newfoundland and Labrador, we are consulting:
- The Inuit of Nunatsiavut, including representatives of the Nunatsiavut Government legislative assembly, the Nunatsiavut Group of Companies, Nunatsiavut beneficiaries, and the community of Nain
- The Innu of Labrador, including the Innu Nation, as well as the communities of Sheshatshiu and Natuashish
Partnerships and Co-creation
This project is intended to generate significant economic and social benefits for the communities where we would be operating. In addition to conventional benefits, such as training, long-term job creation, supply partnerships and co-creation of local businesses, we aim to work with communities to build custom projects of value to the people.
