The mining properties of Torngat Metals are located in a remote but world famous area on the border of Quebec and Newfoundland and Labrador. As community members, employees and stewards of the land and natural resource the indigenous and local communities are valued contributors to the success of the company. Torngat is an active collaborator with the community recognizing that their mutual success and well-being are inextricably linked. These factors shape Torngat's site exploration and development through to future mine operations planning.
As one example, Torngat will be the first mine in the world to deploy Lockheed Martin airships for transporting the mining equipment north to the site, and to transport mined materials back down to pre-existing processing and shipping terminals on the Canadian coastline. This avoids the need to build 178 km of roadway to the site, bypassing the resulting impact of road construction and heavy trucking activity on lands, wildlife and habitat.
This is just one of many ways in which Torngat will demonstrate the power of adopting leading-edge technologies and mining practices to enable the clean, low carbon and ethical society of tomorrow.
